Handbook
What is Concurrent Credit?
Concurrent Credit is a program that allows high school students to earn college credit while completing high school courses. Through an agreement between your high school and 麻豆视频 (NPC), eligible students may enroll in approved courses offered at their high school, on the NPC campus, or online, and simultaneously register to receive college credit from NPC.
Concurrent courses taught on the high school campus are taught at the college level. High school instructors use the same college-approved syllabi, textbooks, learning outcomes, and academic standards as courses taught on the NPC campus. All instructors are approved by NPC and meet the same credential requirements as on-campus faculty.
The Concurrent Credit program is accredited by the 麻豆视频 Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). This accreditation supports the transferability of courses to colleges and universities throughout Arkansas and, in may cases, to institutions in other states. The program also complies with policies established by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Higher Learning Commission.
Each course taken for college credit is recorded on your official NPC college transcript and is calculated into your cumulative college grade point average (GPA). Students are encouraged to review transfer guidelines using the Course Transfer Equivalency Guide provided by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education at .
Enrollment
Outline of Concurrent Credit Registration Process
The following steps outline the process for enrolling in a Concurrent Credit course.
1. Course Request
The student requests to enroll in a high school course that includes a Concurrent Credit component through the CAPS process or the high school鈥檚 regular course selection process.
- When the request is submitted to the school counselor, the student is provided with a Concurrent Credit registration form outlining the steps required to register for college credit.
- The student is informed that it is their responsibility to complete all required steps and ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted to 麻豆视频 (NPC).
- The school counselor or designated high school representative communicates with the Director of Concurrent Enrollment to verify student eligibility.
2. Admission and Testing Deadlines
Students are provided with specific deadlines for:
- Admission to NPC
- Submission of qualifying test scores
- Completion of any required documentation
All deadlines must be met in order to enroll in Concurrent Credit courses.
3. Follow-Up and Verification
The Director of Concurrent Enrollment will monitor student progress toward meeting admission and testing requirements.
- Students who have not completed admission or submitted required test scores will be notified through the high school counselor or designated high school representative.
4. Enrollment in Courses
Students who meet admission requirements and submit qualifying test scores will be enrolled in their selected Concurrent Credit courses once the completed registration form is received by the Director of Concurrent Enrollment.
5. Finalization of Registration
Registration and enrollment for students listed on the original course roster will be completed by the first day of classes at NPC or shortly thereafter.
For courses offered on the high school campus, additions and withdrawals are permitted through the 11th day of classes at NPC. For other course modalities, additions must be made by the first day of class. Withdrawals must follow the published academic calendar for deadlines.
Students requesting to be added to a Concurrent Credit course must:
- Be fully admitted to NPC at least one week prior to the 11th day of classes, and
- Submit qualifying test scores to the Director of Concurrent Enrollment with the concurrent registration form at the beginning of the semester.
Failure to meet these deadlines may result in the inability to enroll in the Concurrent Credit course.
Tuition and Billing
Through the Arkansas ACCESS to Acceleration Scholarship (A2A), 麻豆视频 (NPC) is able to offer Concurrent Enrollment courses to partner with high schools and home school students at a significantly reduced cost.
For students in grades 9鈥12, concurrent credit courses are billed at a rate of $65.00 per credit hour. Tuition charges are assessed per course based on the number of credit hours in which the student is enrolled.
Students who qualify for the A2A Scholarship will have eligible tuition costs covered under the scholarship guidelines and will not be billed for those tuition charges. Eligibility requirements and award limits are determined by the scholarship program and applicable state regulations.
Students and/or their high school are responsible for:
- The cost of required textbooks and instructional materials
- Any tuition or fees that exceed the scholarship eligibility amount
- Any additional course-related expenses not covered by the scholarship
Billing statements and payment deadlines will be issued in accordance with NPC鈥檚 standard billing procedures. Failure to resolve outstanding balances may result in holds on student records or the inability to register for future courses.
Students are encouraged to review scholarship eligibility requirements and confirm financial responsibility prior to enrollment in concurrent courses.
Student Responsibilities and Acknowledgment
Concurrent Enrollment courses provide students with an excellent opportunity to begin earning college credit, explore potential career pathways, and gain early exposure to the expectations of higher education. However, enrollment in college-level coursework carries significant responsibility. A lack of effort or poor academic performance may result in a negative start to your college career and will become part of your permanent college transcript, which may impact future college admission, scholarships, and financial aid eligibility.
Students are strongly encouraged to carefully consider both the benefits and responsibilities of enrolling in concurrent courses and to remain aware of all-important dates, deadlines, and academic expectations.
Eligibility for Concurrent Enrollment is determined by qualifying assessment scores (ACT or ACCUPLACER). To participate in the Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) with 麻豆视频 (NPC), the following terms must be reviewed and acknowledged by all required parties by completing, signing, and returning the concurrent registration form at the beginning of each semester.
By signing the concurrent registration form, the student affirms the following:
- I understand that I must submit a complete concurrent enrollment application and meet all admission requirements by the deadlines established by my school district and NPC. Failure to do so may result in ineligibility to participate.
- I understand that by enrolling in concurrent courses, I am officially a college student and will be held to the same academic standards, policies, and expectations as traditional college students.
- I understand that college-level courses include rigorous academic content. Some courses may address sensitive or challenging subject matter intended to promote critical thinking, open dialogue, and a deeper understanding of society. Topics may include, but are not limited to, socialization, social inequity, race and ethnicity, gender, sexuality, deviance and social control, globalization, and religion.
- I understand that the grades and GPA I earn in college courses become part of my permanent college transcript and may also affect my high school GPA, future college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and federal financial aid eligibility.
- I understand that enrollment in college courses may incur tuition and fees, which may or may not be paid by a third party on my behalf.
- I agree to check my NPC student email and D2L account regularly for official communication, course updates, and assignments.
- I understand that if I have a break in enrollment (fall or spring term), I must complete the required application process again before re-enrolling in the CEP.
- I understand that if I choose to withdraw from a course, or if I change or leave high school, I must follow the official NPC course withdrawal process.
- I have been provided access to the Concurrent Credit Student Handbook, which contains important program information and policies.
- I understand that NPC and my high school may operate on different academic calendars. I am responsible for meeting NPC assignment deadlines even when my high school is not in session. Failure to meet attendance or participation requirements, as outlined in the course syllabus, may result in grade penalties or removal from the course.
- I understand that enrollment in concurrent courses must occur at the beginning of the semester and cannot be completed after established deadlines.
Test Scores Required
Students must provide an ACT score of 19 or better or a ACCUPLACER Score of 252 or better on the Reading sub test to take any concurrent general education credit courses. NPC will no longer accept PLAN, ASPIRE, ASSET, or PSAT scores.

Catalog Rights
Students may meet the graduation requirements listed in the catalog in effect at the time they enter the institution, or those listed in any later catalog. Exceptions to this policy include requirements from a catalog more than three years old or changes in a program or curriculum mandated by external accrediting agencies.
Withdrawing from a Concurrent Course
Withdrawing from a concurrent course is a significant decision that may negatively affect a student鈥檚 academic progress and future educational opportunities. Before initiating a withdrawal, NPC鈥檚 Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) strongly recommends that students consult with their high school counselor and/or NPC鈥檚 concurrent enrollment staff.
Potential Consequences of Withdrawing
Before withdrawing from a concurrent course, students should consider how the decision may affect the following:
- Arkansas Access to Acceleration (A2A) Scholarship Eligibility
- Future Federal 麻豆视频 Considerations
Impact on the A2A Scholarship
Many students in grades 9鈥12 enrolled in concurrent college courses may qualify for the Arkansas Access to Acceleration (A2A) Scholarship. To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum 2.5 college GPA.
Withdrawing from a course (receiving a grade of W) or earning low grades (D or F) can lower the student鈥檚 cumulative college GPA and jeopardize ongoing A2A eligibility. In addition, students who fail or withdraw from a concurrent course are permitted to retake that course only one additional time while still receiving A2A funding.
Steps to Withdraw from a Concurrent Course
- Consult with the Course Instructor
Discuss your performance, course expectations, and any opportunities for improvement. - Review Your Current Standing
Consider whether remaining in the course is academically feasible and whether alternatives exist to support success. - Complete the Withdrawal Request Form
Obtain all required signatures and submit the completed form to NPC鈥檚 Concurrent Enrollment Program via email. - Submit the Withdrawal Request
Email the completed form to the Director of Concurrent Enrollment at:
connie.poteet@np.edu.
Administrative Drops
Students who leave the class before completion should be dropped from the class. Instructors are responsible for sending the Administrative drop form to the NPC Director of Concurrent Enrollment. Email needs to include:
- Student鈥檚 name
- High school
- Concurrent course name and number
- Instructor teaching the course
Student Attendance
Refer to NPC Board Policy 6.600
Instructions to Students regarding attendance:
- Students are responsible to know and comply with syllabus attendance and coursework guidelines in each of their courses.
- Students are expected to meet all attendance requirements and engage in coursework as outlined in the course syllabus. Failure to maintain satisfactory course participation is the equivalent of excessive absenteeism and may result in the student being dropped. To maintain good-standing in online courses, students are expected to submit assigned coursework in a timely manner per instructor requirements.
- Students participating in athletics or a college-sponsored extracurricular activity are required to communicate scheduled absences ahead of time and to make arrangements with their instructors regarding missed coursework, including exams. The instructor determines how academic work associated with a college-sponsored absence(s) can be completed by the student.
- Failure to meet a course鈥檚 attendance policy does not mean a student will be automatically withdrawn from a course. Students seeking to withdraw from a course should do so either online through the student鈥檚 account or in person by visiting Student Affairs.
- Students who do not withdraw from a course by the published Academic College Calendar withdraw date will receive an earned grade.
- A faculty member may administratively withdraw a student from a course, including online courses, any time during the semester up to the published Academic College Calendar withdraw date if attendance does not meet syllabus guidelines.
- Students will not be administratively withdrawn by faculty after the published Academic College Calendar withdraw date except in life-changing circumstances or as a result of military orders.
- The withdrawal of a student from all courses may require the student to repay all or a portion of the financial aid received as calculated by the 麻豆视频 Office in accordance with government grant guidelines.
- Only in extraordinary circumstances may a student earn a grade of IP (In Progress) to defer course completion. Please see the Incomplete Grades policy in the Student Handbook located at鈥np.edu.
Students who miss class due to chronic illness or school activities may be excused at the discretion of the instructor. Instructors should document the illness and report the situation to the NPC Director of Concurrent Enrollment.
Reporting Grades
Instructors must submit both midterm and final grades for concurrent credit courses through NPC鈥檚 OASIS system (NPC鈥檚 official management information system).
NPC uses the following grading scale for college courses:

Grades are posted by instructors at midterm and again at the end of the semester.
Students can view their grades through the OASIS system.
If you are unable to log in or cannot access your grade information, contact the NPC Director of Concurrent Enrollment or NPC Tech Support at (501) 760-4171 for assistance.
Grade Changes
If a grade needs to be corrected or updated, the instructor must notify the NPC Director of Concurrent Enrollment. Once the required grade change information is received, the Registrar will process and enter the updated grade.
Impact of Concurrent Credit Grades
Grades earned in concurrent credit courses become part of a student鈥檚 official college transcript. These grades directly affect the student鈥檚 college grade point average (GPA) and may influence eligibility for financial aid and academic standing. Students are encouraged to work toward successful completion of all courses to avoid potential impacts on future semesters.
Transcript Request and Transferring Credit
Release of鈥疶ranscripts
Student records are protected information and may not be released to any individual, organization, group, or institution without prior written consent of the student, in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Students must submit a transcript request form in order for NPC to release the record. NPC only releases transcripts created by NPC. Exceptions are records created by Garland County Community College and Quapaw Technical Institute prior to the merger.

Transferring Credit
Students will be able to transfer much of the credit earned at NPC to colleges and universities in Arkansas. Students can go to the ADHE website () and access the course transfer system to see how courses will transfer between colleges and universities in Arkansas. Students should talk with their advisor at the school they wish to transfer to about course transfer and the steps they need to follow.
Policies
Academic Appeals: The purpose of the Academic Appeal Due Process is to provide 麻豆视频 students with an opportunity to secure equitable resolution to issues that may affect their academic progress. To ensure due process dealing with academic appeals of students, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the Dean of Students, appoints an Academic Appeals Committee at the beginning of each fall semester. This committee consists of six faculty members and six students. The appointed members elect a chairperson.
Students may appeal any final course grade, within reason, that they believe was awarded based upon an arbitrary determination by the faculty member and that does not reflect an academic assessment of their work or that is inconsistent with the grading procedures and standards outlined by the faculty member in their course syllabus, or as specified in written or oral instructions. The student must seek a formal academic appeal within 45 days of the final grade being awarded. Requests to hear appeals beyond this deadline will be heard only on an exceptional basis by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The following are examples of inappropriate reasons for making an academic appeal: the course was graded too severely, the faculty member did not offer extra credit, or the faculty member did not take into account the student鈥檚 personal commitments, such as work schedule.
For more information refer to NPC Board Policy Number 6.300.
Academic Honesty:鈥赌Refer to the NPC Student Handbook/Catalog for full definitions, consequences, and procedures.
麻豆视频 expects all students to uphold honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior. Academic dishonesty harms the learning environment and will not be tolerated. NPC is committed to supporting students鈥 success while protecting the rights and property of others.
Violations may result in consequences ranging from a zero on the assignment to permanent dismissal from the college, depending on severity and frequency.
Forms of Academic Dishonesty
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to:
- Technology Misuse 鈥 Manipulating technology systems, exploiting glitches, or using unauthorized access.
- Collusion 鈥 Working with others to cheat, sharing answers, or exchanging work.
- Deception 鈥 Breaking assignment expectations such as copying without permission or using unauthorized help.
- Misrepresentation and Lying 鈥 Submitting work done by others, using purchased assignments, falsifying information, or misrepresenting identity.
- Cheating 鈥 Sharing or obtaining test questions, using unauthorized materials, altering work, bribery, or continuing work beyond allowed time.
- Plagiarism 鈥 Using someone else鈥檚 words or ideas without proper credit, failing to cite sources, or submitting AI-generated content without disclosure.
- AI Use Guidelines 鈥 AI tools may be used only when permitted by the instructor and must be cited. Submitting AI-generated work as original is considered plagiarism.
- Fabrication and Falsification 鈥 Inventing data, citing nonexistent sources, or misrepresenting research.
- Stealing, Defacing, or Destroying Property 鈥 Taking, damaging, or failing to return campus materials or academic work.
Why Students Cheat
Common factors include fear of failure, grade pressure, unclear expectations, and the belief that others cheat without consequence. While NPC supports students facing these pressures, no reason justifies dishonesty.
Consequences
Instructors will review suspected violations and may impose:
- A zero or 鈥淔鈥 on the assignment
- An 鈥淔鈥 in the course
- Referral for disciplinary action per the Student Code of Conduct, which may include suspension or dismissal
For complete policy details, procedures, and definitions, see the NPC Student Handbook/Catalog.
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA): It is the intent of NPC to work toward full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and to make their facilities accessible to students, staff and visitors and to make the various instructional programs accessible to all people, or to provide reasonable accommodations according to the law. It is the policy of NPC that no individual shall be discriminated against on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, and advantages or accommodations at the College.
Sexual Discrimination/Harassment/Misconduct: No person at 麻豆视频 will on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, be denied benefit of, or be subjected to sex discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual misconduct under any education program or activity.
Title IX鈥痯rotects the college community from sexual harassment in a school鈥檚 education programs and activities. This means that Title IX protects the college community in connection with all academic, educational, extracurricular, athletic, and other programs of the school, whether those programs take place in a school鈥檚 facilities, in college transportation, at a class or at a training program sponsored by the school at another location.鈥
More information, including detailed guidance, policies, and support resources, is available on the 麻豆视频 Title IX webpage at /about/college-policies/title-ix/. This site provides comprehensive information regarding students鈥 rights, reporting procedures, available campus and community support services, and NPC鈥檚 commitment to maintaining a safe and equitable learning environment for all members of the college community.
Student Records Privacy Rights: In accordance with 麻豆视频鈥疊oard Policy Number 6.100
The Board of Trustees supports and complies with the鈥疐amily Education Rights and Privacy Act ()鈥痮f 1974 which was designated to protect the privacy of education records, to establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records, and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearing. Students also have the right to file complaints with The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act office concerning alleged failures by the institution to comply with the Act.
Faculty and administrative staff members should be aware that all student records are private and that information concerning student educational records may not be given out without written permission of the student. The Registrar or Vice President for Student Services should be contacted for further information.
A student's academic record is confidential and will not be released to unauthorized persons without written approval from the student.鈥疉t its discretion, 麻豆视频 Park College may make available the following "directory information": name, address, date of birth, e-mail address, phone number, photograph, academic major, full-time or part-time status, academic and nonacademic honors, degree obtained and date conferred, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, height and weight of members of athletic teams, leadership positions, and dates of attendance.
Students may choose to restrict directory information from being released to third parties by submitting a nondisclosure request to the Registrar's office. Students are responsible for requesting the release of their information once a request for nondisclosure has been placed on record.
To read the full FERPA policy, please鈥痸isit the NPC FERPA Procedures page (/student-life-services/registrar/ferpa-procedures) for more details. Questions concerning FERPA may be directed to the Registrar's Office.鈥
